25519 2001-11-25 09:22:00 when i try to download anything now, i get taken to an internet page that has a blank white page and a funny little icon in the top left corner, when i click on the page for more info it says 'there is no viewer available for the type of object you are trying to. The available info is available

address of object: blah blah blah

content type: application/octet-stream

Possible location of view: ActiveX Gallery

Do you want to go to this location to download a viewer for this type of object?

when i say yes i have no idea where i am or what i am supposed to get.

I do not even get to the point of the dowload where i am asked if i want to open it from its current location or to save the file to disk.

Any ideas?

25520 2001-11-26 06:46:00 Sounds like your file associations are screwed.

This site has had a link to a program that will let you easily change them. Not sure what it was called. Check out the downloads for utilities, or scan the postings for a clue. I did mention it in my reply to the posting but can't remember what it was called.

GEEK WARNING: I'm pretty sure it was version 1.3, though....
