25625 2001-11-26 06:32:00 Hi, does any one use or know if CloneCD (a cd writing program) is any good, i've heard that with that one it skips that protecting files in the cd-rom so that all cd's can be backed up, such as microsoft cd's. is this anygood. also is the download from its web site which is:

www.elby.org

is the download there a freeware, that i can just download and use forever, rather than paying money for shareware, or just getting limited functions like in a demo.

Thanks

It works fine for me :-) There was a copy of it on a reecent PC World CD too.

CloneCD copies CD's using a method that not all CD Writers support. There is also a small program available called detect.exe which sorts out what sort of protection the disc has and passes this info on to CloneCD.

I would suggest looking thru the following links for the detection program and general info:

25627 2001-11-26 10:55:00 Hi S Y,

I use it to back up certain things that otherwise bring up errors on Nero, or the like. It works really well if your CD-R is RAW compatible, as this is the way to burn. Sector for sector, buffer for buffer.......etc......

You can quite easily get it from the 'bnet but yes to get full functionality I think you have to register your copy, otherwise I think it only burns at like 2x, or maybe it only does 5 copies or something.

Good Luck.

25628 2001-11-27 23:32:00 Works well for me. I always make dupes in RAW mode just in case there's some kinda copy protection implemented on the CD. If your CD reader can read subchannels, all the better. Make sure your burner can burn in RAW mode.

It's a shareware program but if you know your way around the internet, you can easily find ways to bypass that. Unfortunately, I can't openly tell you here in this forum as it promotes illegal use of softwares.

25629 2001-11-28 07:33:00 Can you tell me by e-mail? I won't spread it around, promise ;-) please, i'm still learning, i think i won't use it much since i'll use nero as well, but if you don't want to tell it here, can you kindly leave you're e-mail so that i can send a e-mail to you asking. if you do not want to put you're e-mail in this forum, then if you can kindly e-mail me at syhyang@hotmail.com then it'll be great. Looking forward to a reply,

Many thanks,
sy
