| 25507 | 2001-11-25 08:21:00 | Hi everyone..... can someone please tell me how I would be able to put a PCWorld icon on my desktop, so I have a direct shortcut to the PCWorld home page.... THANKS | Guest (0) | ||

You may change the desktop icon at any time: right click on the new icon > click Properties > click 'Web Document' tab > click 'Change Icon' and then 'Browse' your icon folders to make a choice. Depending on your OS - you will have several hundred icons to choose from and may download new ones that you like. Cheers !!! e_ NOTE: the URL provided above is for the Press F.1 Page ~ just copy & paste the PC World Home Page URL which is what you asked after. |

| 25511 | 2001-11-25 10:26:00 | Thanks guys, got it on my desk top - but I want the little red PCWorld logo on there as well. Is this possible? Where do I get a copy of that? | Guest (0) | ||
| 25512 | 2001-11-25 15:00:00 | ...this should work: First, delete the 'PC World Home Page' from your Favourites folder then reconnect to the site and once again add it to your Favourites. This will download a fresh new icon file [.ico] Next, change the icon on your desktop using method described in my earlier posting - which is as follows: Right-click your existing icon on the desk top > Properties > Shortcut tab > 'Change Icon' > 'Browse' button > use the 'Look In' box to drill down to Windows / Temporary Internet Files > click once (to highlight) on the PC World .ico file > click 'Okay' > 'Apply' > 'Okay'. Done. Your fresh new 'PC World' Icon should now be on your Desktop shortcut. Cheers!!! e_ |

Save as a bit map. (*.bmp file) Right-click your existing icon on the desk top > Properties > Shortcut tab > 'Change Icon' > 'Browse' button > as stated by e_. Select Files of type... All Files, and browse to where you saved your bitmap. It may take a little playing around to get it to look right but it works - I have a 'Press F1!' Logo icon for my shortcut to this page. G P |
