25498 2001-11-25 08:17:00 Hi there, I've decided to try another linux distro, after getting sick of Redhat, and I think i'll try Linux Mandrake 8.1.

Problem is, I can't find a local server, and I'm reluctant to download from overseas, just due to the large size of the download, and the undoubted speed increase from downloading locally.

Can someone point me in the direction of a NZ server hosting the ISO for Linux mandrake 8.1?

Thanks alot,
Jonathan Giles

25499 2001-11-25 13:36:00 I think you will find mandrake a bit nicer as a first distro.

Paradise Net has a mirror at:

ftp://debian.paradise.net.nz

Another useful one is:

ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub

(yeah its not NZ but its still fast)

25500 2001-11-25 19:41:00 You can buy the CDs cheap at www.xsolutions.co.nz

$12.00 for 1xCD

$20.00 for 2xCDs

$28.00 for 3xCDs

I have bought here several times before and he is very quick & reliable.

25501 2001-11-25 20:39:00 Grrr, after downloading 200 MB last night, I come on this morning to resume downloading, and find the downloads for some reason restarting...

So, that sucks :)
Started downloading again using the Paradise server - thanks alot.

As for Xsolutions - I'd prefer to download personally - yeah, I'm probably cheap, but i don't mind downloading at night.

Thanks,
Jonathan Giles
