It all depends on the program you're updating. Most will overwrite what's installed, eg Flash plugin... however some will install a new copy so that you have two... One I know of that does this is Quicktime (I installed a game that used Quicktime and it installed one version, then I installed another one a couple of weeks later with a newer version, and then I had two versions on my computer, both working... although I suspect they were both using the newer version's engine.) |
