25698 2001-11-26 18:36:00 I have to computers one runs on windows Me and one on windows 98SE can I use a USB cable to tranfer data between then as a from of backup. Or can you tell me how to link them so that I can tranfer data between them.

Providing both PC's have USB ports you can buy a cable and data transfer software for around the $100.00 mark, this is a fast and simple way of transfering data (if buying from Dick smith, make sure you get the USB data transfer cable not the USB network cable)this form of transfer is probably the easiest way to transfer data at a reasonable speed, just plug in both ends of the cable and load the software and your all done.

as Alan says its fairly quick and easy, but it'd probably be cheaper to buy two network cards and a cross-over cable from Dick Smith, and you'd have a faster more readily usable peer-to-peer network.
