25986 2001-11-29 05:12:00 After some children had been using (sic) the computer Word no longer boots up - just get the initial splash screen and the whole machine is locked.

Ctl+Alt+Del brings up a message saying the system resources are too low. The only recourse is to switch the machine off.

Running Win Me and Office 2000 small business on a PIII with 64Mb RAM and >15Gb free disk space.

Have reinstalled both Me and Office. No new software has been installed and no other application appears to be affected, including Excel etc.

Any suggestions? All assistance greatfully received.

25987 2001-11-29 06:19:00 Hello Trevor,

Your problem is a corrupted Normal.dot file, word uses this file to open with default settings, if it becomes corrupted Word will not open.

To fix, just do a search on your system for all Normal.dot files when found delete them, Word will now recreate Normal.dot next time it loads and everything will be back to normal ( may pay to reboot after deleting )
