| 26219 | 2001-12-01 14:14:00 | Running windows me,I press OK on shut down confirm window. The taskbar disappears, the cursor freezes, the wallpaper[scanned photo from hp scanjet 2200]stays.Only way to shut down is to crash the power supply! This seems to happen at random...any ideas? | Guest (0) | ||

Try shutting all the extras down manually before shutdown, and see how it works. Is laborious process, but just about the only way. Also, try taking things out of startup, so they don't impact on the system at all. Findfast and FastStart are favourites for this treatment. Failing this, it gets nasty. Start thinking virus and reinstallation. Robo. |

Findfast and Findstart are two that might cause problems and can be disabled if I remember right, what else is running, firewalls, anti virus, etc. Maybe you have got spyware running in the background. What you describe though I and other people I know also get on both 98 and ME, usually it is a once in a while random thing which you could almost put down to Windows but if it happening too often try the above and see if that helps | Guest (0) | ||
