26190 2001-12-01 09:43:00 Can any one tell me what this Application does?
I installed Zone Alarm and every time I access the net this program comes up. If I disable it or not allow it to run, I cant access the internet.
I've heard rumours it's spyware from Microsoft..does anyone know what it really is?

Thanks Mike

26191 2001-12-04 01:11:00 I have only been running 2K for a short while but I can tell you its not spyware type activity. I had it trying to access the net to and what I worked out was that it is a networking or synchronisation feature using the app to do whatever various networking and sychronisation protocols do automatically to stay synced etc in a business type environment.

The way to stop it happening is to turn off some of the standard install services related to various large business type lans and synchronisation of files etc. However I cannot tell you which ones were the ones out of all the services I turned off. If you do a search on 'Windows 2000 services tweaks' you should find the same pages I found when trying to get 2000 under control.

Its probably something to do with the services for messenger but as I say I am not sure.

26192 2001-12-04 04:44:00 Thanks for the advise John.
Can you tell me where should I do the search? On the microsoft site or where?
Also I dont know this for sure but I've read of others complaining that this also occurs on Windows Me, same Services and Controller App appears, yet they dont have all the big business features of Windows 2000. MIght try Microsoft and see what they say.
Thanks again
