26102 2001-11-30 12:01:00 Until about a week ago I used to before going to work, check my Email, shut down Outlook express, shut down computer
everything went normal. But for the last week when I went to shutdown the computer, a warning message would come up saying something like 'waiting for program to end task' on Windoze 98SE
So I updated my free AVG anti-virus program that gave erevything a free bill of heath, Well less than a week now I have just download the newest update and it found a 'I-Worm/BadTrans' virus
in the system.

I am very careful, with attachments, I have no idea how this happened apart from the fact this Virus must of sneaked in Via a HTML Email, as I got some HTML Emails the other day with no text in the body & a attachment given as file size of 0 bytes,

On Wednesday night I found in the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder some 'youarefat*.mp3.scr' files (note the double extension) which I deleted, So guess what? I have decided to stop buying biscuits and cakes

26104 2001-11-30 12:38:00 You've got the latest outlook worm going around (badtrans).

It uses a security hole in OE to run automatically.

The Register has an article (www.theregister.co.uk) with some links that should help, especially the messagelabs one. I hope you havn't been entering any passwords / creditcard numbers recently.

If you going to use OE you will have to check for patchs on windows update regularly.
The security hole badtrans uses has had a patch since march.
