26339 2001-12-03 03:30:00 All I did was to rename the administrator account to my name in Win2K Pro and this lost all the settings including email addresses and favourite sites and appearances etc. Where are they and is it possible to get them back or print out the files that are not apparently there anymore Guest (0)
26340 2001-12-03 18:40:00 Press Cntl-Alt-Del and log off.

Log on again as Administrator.

This will get you back to where you were before with a bit of luck.

Now you now why there is an account called Administrator, which has a lot of privileges which are not given to ordinary users.

It's because with those privileges, you can do a lot of damage. If you are logged in as a user, you can damage your only own area.

Use a normal user account to play, or work on the computer. Log in as Adminstrator only when you HAVE to.

There is another reason: if you are Administrator and you are connected to the Internet, anyone who manages to get into your machine, and your session, has access to your machine. All of it.
