26458 2001-12-04 00:24:00 For some unknown reason out of the blue my PC will not shut down. It goes to the window that says windows is shutting down and then hangs. My only option is to hit the power button, then I get a scan disk message on bootup. I've changed nothing and done a virus check to make sure of nothing nasty. PC is 486100, Win95B and IE5.1. ?????????????? Guest (0)
26459 2001-12-04 00:47:00 Something is causing the stall, problem is finding it.

Run scandisk, then defrag, if still stuck you might have to run 95B setup again.

26460 2001-12-04 01:03:00 Before you shut down, try ctrl+alt+del and see what is running. Perhaps there is something there that is causing your problem. Guest (0)
26461 2001-12-04 01:06:00 'unknown reason out of the blue'? ...

It's Windows. That's reason enough for anything.

Time for a reinstall.

I've done all as you suggested and reloaded win twice. hence my last gasp to F1. I've even run norton works 2000 to try and find the problem, but no go
