26445 2002-06-30 10:55:00 Firstly, it's perfectly all right to jump in and ask your own questions in someone else's post on a particular topic - as far as I am concerned it is, anyway!

Secondly, I remember the post you are referring to and although I haven't looked for it I know what you are talking about when you say all the replies aren't there. I found the same thing happened with another of my posts - there were originally over 30 replies but only about 15-20 got transferred to the new forum.

I think I'll ask Bruce about this and see if he can explain what's happened. :-)

26446 2002-06-30 11:54:00 Good one susan - cause sometimes they are helpful to refer back to or to refer people onto eh!! In this case there were only our 4 or so posts missing but still you had given some good instructions in them and i had responded with what had worked - so they could be of use to others.
Now they are in cyberspace i guess !! :-) Thanks

26447 2002-06-30 22:06:00 Simple rule of thumb people - if on the main page the poster's name is is italics, then the post predates the new forum. We no registered users before so everything from back then shows as guest/italics.

We tried to import as much of the old stuff as we could and have most of it. It's a great resource afterall.

26448 2002-07-01 03:00:00 As I am the guy that started all this and did proceed with the new computer, I would like to report the result.
Bought a Samcor machine assembled here on the North shore and have good results although had a few problems. (Not with the machine)
Computer has 1700 AMD processor, 40Gig HD and 1025 Ram.
XP pro installed on one partition and Win98 se on the other. All this was on the advice of the good people at Press F1 as I am an old bloke and not too smart at computer skills.
The choice of XP was excellent and the only time win98 gets used, is to use the HP4200 Scanner which will not work with XP. Have had advice from Press F1 experts and had the HP blokes tearing their hair out , but all to no avail.
So I go along with all the posts in favour of XP, and thanks for all the help. Regards Ron Guest.

26449 2002-07-01 03:54:00 Guys - is it possible that the posts you are missing were made on the BETA site - remember, we had imported a lot of test data to the beta site and some of you may have made replies to those posts on the beta site. That would explain why they are missing here, because we've checked the import and are pretty certain that when we brought the posts in for the licve site we got everything. Biggles (121)
26450 2002-07-01 04:18:00 No, I'm afraid they weren't Bruce. J Zep wasn't part of the beta team.

The post I'm referring to is the "Don't abandon Press F1". When Candy went live a lot of the posts on that thread weren't there.

J Zep is referring to one around that time as well but I can't remember the subject of it. Like she said, it was someone else's thread and J Zep and I had a "conversation" at the end of it.

It would have been the Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday of the week that Candy went live. I'll go and have another look.

26451 2002-07-01 04:24:00 It was this thread:

pressf1.co.nz

There were more replies than that on it. Like J Zep says, I gave her instructions on how to get a clipart picture from Word into OE so that she could use the pic as a stationery background.

We must have had at least half a dozen posts between us after what is there now.

It's not critical so don't lose any sleep (or hair!! :D) over it - we're just wondering if they are there somewhere or if CyberSpace gobbled them.
