26389 2001-12-03 08:36:00 I would like to copy some Audio Tapes to a CD for playing & posterity.
Can myy defaunt Soundcard record in Stereo and copy direct to a CD burner?
How do I copy audio tapes into a PC, then sort the songs into order for burning onto a CD?

Advice & info appreciated.

Thanks....John

26390 2001-12-03 09:44:00 Your soundcards line in will be stereo.

You won't be able to copy directly to CD.

You will need to make/buy an adaptor from the line out on your stereo to a 3.5mm stero plug for your sound card.

You will probably want to record the whole tape to a file, then open it in a wave editor and break it up into the individual tracks.

Then write the tracks the same as you normally do.

26392 2001-12-06 09:20:00 Hi John,
firstly connect your stereo using a stereo cord from your stereo line out aux. to you line in on your computer.
Next download a music programm the allows for line in recording, musicmatch, or media jukebox are a couple worth trying.
take the tick out of mute in the line in volume control, and check that line in is selected in options.
read the help on the music program, as this will explain how to go about setting things up.
good luck,
Bob
