26601 2001-12-05 11:30:00 Hi, recently my win2k pro OS decided to take between 40-50 seconds to shutdown.I cannot think of anything that changed in the enviroment that would cause this and in fact have reformatted the partition since BUT it remains the same slowwwww.Any ideas? Guest (0)
26602 2001-12-06 02:01:00 You reinstalled Win2k and everything or just reformatted another partition?

I would guess that it could be some program that is taking time to unload, have you installed anything new just before it started?

Try shutting some stuff down manually before you try the shutdown and see if that helps to pin down the culprit.

Robo.

26603 2001-12-06 11:00:00 Thanks for your input Rob.I am running win98se on partition c, with win2k on partition d (same physical hdd)basically havent gotten round to scrapping win98se as yet - but use win2k exclusively.I reformatted the partition d then re-loaded win2k from scratch.Cant recall anything changing when i first noticed this annoying problem.Have previously tried your suggestion to manually shutdown processes / programs etc.Edited the registry last night for the delay shutdown services string, made no difference :( I checked bios in-case in one of my early morning sessions I had in-advertantly changed a setting in there - nothing.I am beginning to wonder if it is thee el cheapo keyboard im using, had thought this before but this time im running it with generic drivers and not the full multimedia drivers that come with it, but cant see this making sense? Other than win2k, other software on this partition includes icq2000b build 3154, paintshop pro 7, winamp3.0, Nero, Neo trace pro, tweaking toolbox, using jetstart thru a nokia m1122 but all this hasnt changed.Only other added software that might be of concern is Diablo2 with exspansion and Counter strike.
