1284340 2012-06-28 03:02:00 I can't be absolutely certain of this, but it seems that when I plug in my nokia e63 phone and run the nokia suite to sync contacts etc, my wireless keyboard goes strange and either refuses to respond to keystrokes, or only responds very slowly, and the only fix is a reboot.

I've not found anything about this on a search, so I wondered if anyone here had experienced this?

1284341 2012-06-28 03:50:00 Does the keyboard use bluetooth? perhaps the phone is causing interference on the same frequency or something Agent_24 (57)
1284342 2012-06-28 04:04:00 Just FYI I'm using a Logitech mouse, and a keyboard/mouse combo device in conjunction with Nokia suite on two different PCs and have no issues. wratterus (105)
1284343 2012-06-28 04:04:00 What I thought as well. Mobiles have a connection option, e.g. USB storage, software suite, etc. kahawai chaser (3545)
1284344 2012-06-28 04:14:00 The connection is not bluetooth, in either case. As I type, I've just plugged in the phone, just to see if anything happens. And once it had connected "via PC suite", the keyboard semi-died. I unplugged the phone and the keyboard came back to life. I plugged it in again and it died again. Unplugged and reconnected in "mass storage" mode, and everything seems fine. Unplugged and reconnected in PC suite mode and it died again.

Weird, or what?

1284345 2012-06-28 04:27:00 Did you try a different USB port? Agent_24 (57)
1284346 2012-06-28 04:50:00 Good point. I've just plugged the phone into a different port, so let's see. I'm typing now, so it looks like it is OK.

I've now tried a combination of ports, and it looks like the problem occurs if the phone and the keyboard receiver are plugged in side-by-side at the front of the PC. If I move either of them to a different port the problem goes away.

I've now got them plugged in side by side at the back of the PC and there is no problem.

So does that mean one of my front ports is dodgy? AFAIK I'm not having any problems with either of them individually, just with this combination.

1284348 2012-06-28 04:59:00 Front USB ports have longer cables than other ports, and with the majority of cheap cases, also have cheap wiring which is only really suitable for USB 1.1 speeds.

It could well be that the devices are causing interference on the lines to the front ports preventing things from working properly, especially if the wiring used is cheap unshielded cable.

Take a look at the cable running to your front USB ports. If it's a flat ribbon cable or anything other than a single thick black or grey cable, I wouldn't be surprised if it was part of the problem.

1284349 2012-06-28 05:06:00 OK, I'll check that out. It is not a cheap case (Acousticase C6607). Tony (4941)
