1283731 2012-06-25 06:34:00 Hello

I Have a Canon HD VIXIA HF R11 Camcorder .

I have downloaded the movie files from the camcorder to the PC and i wish to burn this files onto a DVD . I dont really mind downgrading HD quality
content to DVD quality .

For Editor i have Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 . 0

I am not sure how best to go about burning these files onto a DVD so i can player on normal DVD player .

The Canon video files have . MTS extension and i believe the recording is in MPEG4-AVC / H . 264 format .
I always have hard time getting these video editing to work smoothly .

Has someone bit of experience with this so can give me pointers please .

Also to slightly complicate matters a bit more, the camcorder/recording is NTSC
and i want to make a PAL DVD so it can be played in PAL . Although this is not a big deal i suppose as most DVD players are multi region these days
and i will be using Sony DVD Architect DVD authoring so it might give me the option for region type?

Thanks for any advice

1283732 2012-06-25 08:10:00 If you put a dvd in to your pc's drive, there should be an option to 'burn to dvd'. I find the option built in to windows to work fine, and have never had any compatibility issues. Nick G (16709)

1283735 2012-06-25 22:03:00 Most PAL DVD players these days will handle NTSC fine. To do the conversion is not really a trivial task.

If you want the end product to be a playable DVD rather than HD AVCHD on DVD, then render the movie as DVD. In Vegas Pro it's under the File menu, select Render As, choose NTSC DVD (in this case), customise the bitrate and make sure to do a 2-pass encode so the video will look a little better.

A lot of this is covered in more detail on the Sony forums, so you should be able to search on there on how to best create a DVD: www.sonycreativesoftware.com

1283736 2012-06-25 22:49:00 Another free option is the microsoft windows Movie maker or DVD maker software, I discovered one of them was hiding on my windows 7 already despite not being in the menus anywhere. They are actually pretty good and simple to use. Bear in mind converting will likely take hours. dugimodo (138)

DVD Region has nothing to do with NTSC/PAL
Most DVD Players in NZ can play both NTSC and PAL, the issue would be with the TV if it can take a NTSC signal then no issue, if it can't it will display in monochrome
Some players such as Pioneer can convert NTSC to PAL while playing the DVD, so a PAL TV can display colours.
As the source material is NTSC (30 frames per second), your DVD Project should be NTSC. If you convert to PAL (25 fps) in the project, you may end up with video stuttering.
