1262049 2012-02-28 08:10:00 Small business site, 4 pages, what would you expect to pay, what would you charge?

I know there are a number of web developers and small business owners on this forum so thought I'd ask for some feedback.

I've got a quote here I would have thought was quite over the top, but perhaps not.

1262050 2012-02-28 08:29:00 I have no idea, but have looked at doing it yourself with something like squarespace plod (107)
1262051 2012-02-28 08:31:00 It depends heavily on the complexity and customisation required. Anywhere from $250 to $2500 I would expect, assuming it's not something totally out there complex and doesn't require any sort of ecommerce/transactions/ user logins etc. inphinity (7274)
1262052 2012-02-28 08:45:00 I've taken over the project.

The quote consisted of 4 blank squares on a word document representing the 4 pages of the site.

Then a table stating

Build website $2500
completion $3250 + GST

I went and looked at the website that corresponds with the company giving the quote and its a word press template....The content being a map of the planets.

I suggested $800, dependent on a portfolio, either of clients websites or mockups if they were just starting out.

There was also no costings for updates to site, hosting or URL registration, all of which I consider a rort within the industry.

Someone in a shack in Lahore will do a half decent job for $10

1262055 2012-02-28 09:00:00 :D

But yeah based on what you've said I'd go anywhere from $300-800, depending on how much customization they wanted, but I find it hard to get outta bed for less than $100 an hour most days so maybe that's just me :-/
