1261337 2012-02-25 05:57:00 Just bought a Tivo from Bond and Bond for $199.

Hadn't seen any advertising that they were bringing it down from the usual $299 again.

1261339 2012-02-25 10:49:00 $199 is a bloody good price - every other PVR around that price is rather crap. Greven (91)
1261340 2012-02-26 08:59:00 The Tivo is all set up and connected to our Samsung 40" LCD (not a terribly new one - nearly 3 years old).
I had ordered an HDMI cable which hasn't arrived yet so I'm using the one that normally connects to our standard DVD player.
Because I used the same HDMI port that the DVD player was normally on there were a couple of problems. Everyone looked tall and skinny and the colours were a little washed out. Two simple setting changes on the TV fixed that.

Added some program to the season pass. Rewinding live TV is cool.

The FreeViewer tuner in the TV I thought was always a little dodgy as the picture would sometimes pixelate (more often than I thought was acceptable). The Tivo's tuners don't have his problem.

So pleased you said that. I wondered if it was just me being picky again. I get a far better picture through my Panasonic HDD recorder than I get through the Samsung LED TV (1 year old)

1261342 2012-02-27 03:06:00 1) Can you use a tv without an internet connection?, I thought they were somehow tied to telecom
2) Can i access content on my local network eg movies and play them

1261343 2012-02-27 05:13:00 Tivo isn't tied to Telecom any more & I'm fiarly sure you don't need an internet connection, but you are best to check on http://tivo.co.nz
They still don't support DLNA which is disappointing - you have to install their software & use it to copy videos to the device before you can play them.

1261344 2012-02-27 06:00:00 You need an internet connection for the tv guide so I am told according to the link you gave. Snorkbox (15764)
1261345 2012-02-27 06:36:00 The electronic program guide does come from the Internet for the Tivo.
A wireless adaptor for the Tivo comes as standard - it used to cost extra. You can use an ethernet cable instead if you wish.
You actiate your Tivo via mytivo.co.nz. The account you set up can be used to program your Tivo if you wish.

1261346 2012-02-27 20:11:00 Pity there is no 30 commercial skip function but I guess TVNZ who were partners when it launched made TiVo remove it..
In saying that I do like my TiVo,,
