1261823 2012-02-29 09:24:00 Luckily I found a job shortly thereafter and vowed I would NEVER go to WINZ again and NEVER let myself get in the position where I might need assistance, despite the huge amount of tax I pay.

Fair call, same here.

He didn't have to go through much, potentially because he was a young 23yr old, no assets (Formally declared bankrupt a few years earlier)... A couple of quick visits and one or two phone calls and they were fine with it.

Who me? No - she was apparently. I think she's a hypocrite.

As for moving - well I didn't make enough down South so moved back to Auckland. An expensive exercise, then again, I moved there in the first place so my tough luck.
