1261031 2012-02-25 06:13:00 The Union leaders are working in their own interests not those of their members. Have a look at their redundancy agreement the senior Union guys get around $8-900k if made redundant and in this case that looks like their objective. The workers just end up out of a job.

Agreed.

1261032 2012-02-25 06:18:00 Reminds me of a little incident back in the 60’s, when as you say the Unions struck for any reason at all.

Back then, a mate’s brother was manager of a freezing works that was plagued with problems

On this occasion the Wharfies in Ak were on strike yet again and all the Coolstores were becoming full. So, it looked like the Works would have to stop the kill.

This was going to cost the Works a fortune in wages, as well as lost income so he had a brainwave.

He announced that he was going to stop the Gumboot Allowance forthwith. He dreamt up a heap of excuses and the militant union went out on strike. Well the battle went on for a couple of weeks by which time the AK Wharfies had gone back to work. Once they had cleared the backlog on the wharfs and some of the Coolstores were emptied, he capitulated and gave his guys back their Gumboot Allowance.

The Moron Union Leaders thought they had had another major victory and those still alive probably still don’t realise they were sucked in. :D
I love it.:clap:D

1261033 2012-02-25 06:47:00 Not sure, we had a saying when flying
Nothing on the clock but the makers name SMITHS
Referring to the altimeter or airspeed.

What was his name again?

I think we must have upset him, not listening to his music.

1261036 2012-02-25 10:28:00 ......I sure no one here would want to go to work every day wondering if they would be lucky and get a full days work that day cause they have bills to pay next week.

Many many people - the self-employed. Plumbers, handymen, painters, shop owners et al. None of them know from day to day just how much work is ahead. People change their minds, others fail to pay afterwards, customers put their wallets away. It won't have escaped you that many businesses have closed down in NZ over the past 3 years.

But Nyuuji likes to be spoon fed.
Many more businesses will be closing before things truly come right. Remember too that it is the small business owner that employs most of the workers.

From that comment I take it you look down on wage workers then.
