1262446 2012-03-02 03:53:00 Gonna try this fix to get the start menu back as soon as the computer is free again -- Worth a crack as they say :Drestores-start-menu-disables-metro-ui-in-windows-8 (www.ghacks.net) wainuitech (129)
1262447 2012-03-02 05:22:00 Just installed it, I don't like it. It's meant for tablets, why put it on a PC? sahilcc7 (15483)

Sounds good! But what the heck is a "Charms menu" ?

Is Windows 8 inspired by Harry Potter or something?

1262451 2012-03-02 07:41:00 Odd name, but yeah prob some illogical reason why its called that, its the pop out menu on the right.

That fix, have found it doesn't always run every time, but you can put a shortcut into the startup folder, which then makes a "app" appear in metro, click that and windows opens with the start button.

"maybe" if enough people complain it will be an option in the final version. ?

Unhappy people doesn't lead to wanting to buy the product. Either that or have a tablet and a desktop version.

1262452 2012-03-02 07:43:00 A tablet and desktop version would work. Snorkbox (15764)
1262453 2012-03-02 07:50:00 Just a theory :D

Windows 8 in its time line is designed to be a failure ---- how you may ask ??

Spot the pattern & editions as they were produced (for the time it was) ;)

Win98 - Good

ME - Failure

XP - Good

Vista - Failure

Win 7 - Good (what Vista should have been)

Win 8 - Failure

Win 9 - Good ??? (Windows 8 as it should have been).

Pattern or what ?
