| 1261773 | 2012-02-27 22:21:00 | On one hand you have the Career Bludgers . At the other end of the scale there are the ones that genuinely do wish to work And just to put the Icing on the Cake, we have large Companies, including the Government, retrenching and putting off staff in large numbers . . Yes . First we need the work . It's worse in other places too . Orcon opening a call centre in manila, AirNZ putting people off, and so on so on . You can't just order people to get jobs when there isn't enough of them . Once you have jobs then it's easy for people to get work, and easier to concentrate on the bludgers instead of just panicking over the total . Unfortunately NZ doesn't have much manufacturing anymore ether which doesn't help . Look at Metla - left home to get work . I had to move back here to get work . Not everyone can though, so worse in smaller places . . . . |

What's worse, economic theory doesn't require that anybody be employed. It just requires that demand and supply be in balance, where 'demand' means people with money, and supply means a few workers operating machines. If a person doesn't have money, their demand doesn't count. They're outside the system and are supposed to become invisible, preferably die... Don't bash beneficiaries until you've studied a bit of economics and seen where employment enters into economic theory. (It doesn't) (And yes, I have been to WINZ. I was there earlier this month applying for a benefit That's great, but we're not worldwide, we're NZ. There was too many jobs to count. Over 90% I could have gone for, easily. What stopped me? Laziness, or lack of desperation. I knew I'd still get fed even if I was picky. As for beneficiaries, they're not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people who *can* work who simply choose not to. All I know is this: Number of Jobs available > 1 The rest matter less. |
