1262415 2012-03-01 05:05:00 First thought -- Metro - Hmmmmmmmmm Second thought, and this is going to be a HUGE learning curve for a LOT of people, wheres the farkin start menu :horrified ------- Oh found it , what an arse about, pain in the butt way of putting it :waughh:

If there is no way to change that or at least no 3rd party tools to make it sensible I will not be impressed.

Why they blitz all the usual stuff in the name of "usability and productivity" I have no idea. I can use the current GUI design perfectly well and it does not cause any productivity problems to me.

Having to deal with some completely different GUI however does affect both those areas!

The more rubbish like this Microsoft comes up with the more and more I see the likelihood of using Linux as my primary OS.

I might consider Windows 8 after Windows 7 is completely unsupported, but even then it would likely only be for gaming and any other Windows-only program I enjoyed using.

1262416 2012-03-01 05:07:00 I've read that there's no start menu?

Will there be a start menu? and will i be able to get rid of or ignore the Metro interface completely?

1262417 2012-03-01 05:13:00 Two ways to get the start menu.
1. Move the mouse cursor to the top right hand corner of the screen, it pops out on the right.
2. Press the windows key on your keyboard to bring up metro, right click a blank area of the metro interface, then down the bottom left "all apps" this then brings up the buttons for many of the normal functions. = :waughh:

At the moment W8 looks Ok for tablet / touch screen operations but as a working OS :groan: Its going to be TOTALLY confusing to the beginner/average user.
