| 1261627 | 2012-02-27 00:06:00 | Hydrogen fuel cells - promising technology but hydrogen is dangerous and difficult to store, plus these have been around for ages and show no signs of becoming common so far. +1 Hydrogen will be a waste of time. Most of the Hydrogen is extracted from fossil fuel Extracting hydogen from water needs ALOT of energy . (too much be be practical) Electric cars: pfft. The electricity has to come from somewhere .That will require either more coal or Nuke fired power stations. Hybrids : cars like the prius have no better fuel economy than small diesel's . Petrol ( & diesel ) is still being used as its just so damn good as a transport fuel . Petrol has been running out since the first day they 'dug' it out of the ground. The best solution will be very small & light cars. That will be OK only if the 'big' cars are taken off the road. No one will drive ultra micros when there are still menacing huge 4x4's on the road. |
