| 1261258 | 2012-02-25 05:45:00 | While on the subject of road rules how many drivers on this forum do not know the right hand rule, WHEN TURNING RIGHT GIVE WAY TO VEHICLES ON YOUR RIGHT unless they are on a giveway or stop sign, this rule is about to change but i see it everyday where vehicles turn in front of you and sneer or abuse you because you pull out on them :angry:angry:angry Especially if the offending vehicle is travelling toooo fast for the turn, they think they have the right of way, in this case. | 1261259 | 2012-02-25 05:54:00 | Well they have every right if they are on the posted speed limit. The people behind will just have to obey the law especially if another car in the left lane is pacing them to block the lane changers. Why should a person keep left if they are going to get overtaken by drivers exceeding the speed limit? I feel safer driving infront, rather than behind, someone on the motorway. People do stupid **** and I don't want to be caught up in it. |

| 1261263 | 2012-02-25 07:48:00 | Its no biggie if you are that much in a hurry all you do is the the rapid auckland motorway lane change undertaking to the left and cut back in again. If the car you have passed hasnt decided to speed up so you cant get back in. |

| 1261265 | 2012-02-25 09:13:00 | One major problem with NZ drivers (and I am a NZer), is that "I'm a good driver so don't tell me what to do". In OZ, where I have driven extensively, If you are on a multilane highway, like Pacific highway, and you wish to change lanes, as soon as your indicator blinks, a gap almost always appears in the next lane and away you go. In NZ though, as often as not, any trace of gap closes up. "Who does he think he is pushing in like that " Courtesy & patience go a long way. |

| 1261266 | 2012-02-25 09:15:00 | I once had a cop come up behind me and flash his headlights (not his red and blues) at me while I was in the right lane, doing the limit. Seemed he expected me to change lanes to make way for him, despite the other lanes being empty, and he'd had a half mile to chose a different lane for himself as he approached me. So what's a guy to do - speed up and risk a ticket when in the right lanes, or ride on the more congested left lanes where there's a constant hazard of merging and exiting traffic. I'd rather ride in the right lane than face the yo-yo's who chose at the last second to cross all 4 lanes when they make a dive for the exit. While on the subject of cops, I had one fail to give way to me as well recently. He was turning left, I was turning right, and it was right outside the Police station, in full view of the rest of their crew... no flashing lights, just blatantly disobeying the rules they're there to enforce. Yet if I did it they'd ticket me $120 or more... this is what loses them respect and earns them labels like 'Pig'. The rules are for everyone, themselves included. (edit: He was also driving without headlights after dusk) |
