1262494 2012-03-09 21:34:00 That's for signing in with a Windows Live account to syncronise settings across PCs, and of course, this is optional. Yeah I had a double look at that as well, then found out its optional. Its OK if you use an existing Live account for various day to day stuff, but other wise, ignore it. wainuitech (129)
1262495 2012-03-09 22:22:00 How hard would it be for them to ask after all Linux has been doing it for the about 12 years I have been using it.

Doubt it would be very hard at all, but I guess for some reason they just don't care or assume you don't care.

1262496 2012-03-09 23:34:00 It gets a big fat fail from me.
Windows still behaves like the big bully in the playground. I installed it on my second HD but it used the MBR on my main sata drive without even asking so I had to redo grub on there.
They also wanted too much Info on start-up. They weren't going to get another email addy from me or my phone number in case I forgot my password so I cancelled the whole process and doing the custom start-up there were items I couldn't disabled (they were greyed out) that I didn't want.

Agree.

and that is the reason I don't care too much for them.

Knowing that I thought I would have another go or two. Having installed no problem the previous time I then got two failed installs one telling me it couldn't on my hardware; did so happily the first time; then with a file either missing or corrupted. Will have another go later today. Now knowing properly how to reinstall Grub to the MBR I don't mind so much as it only takes a couple of minutes.

1262499 2012-03-10 10:23:00 Having had a play around I reckon it still needs some major work before it hits the market otherwise it will bomb worse than Vista especially within the business community.
There a some things I really like but there are some I just find totally annoying.

1262500 2012-03-10 16:35:00 Just one week old and the amount of third party tweaks that have been applied to Win 8 cp for usability ,have to remember that this is not it's final form

A lot of changes have gone on under the hood another being the power user tasks context menu,(right click the start left hand corner)

I think it will bomb in the business market anyway, because a lot have only just upgraded to Windows 7 from XP so Windows 8 is 'too soon', they won't want to spend more money to replace something they just got recently.
