| 26939 | 2001-12-08 04:02:00 | HI, I have version 4.02 McAfee retail virus scan. I have tried updating my .dat files with the automatic update, but when I went to install the files I got the error ' UNABLE TO FIND ANY QUALIFYING PRODUCT'. I assume this means the lastest dat files are only compatible with McAfee versions higher than 4.02?? Since I tried re-installing McAfee, is it possible to download earlier dat files which are compatible with 4.02?? And/or am I able to freely upgrade to 4.03 or higher?? cheers Nathan |

Having brought a computer with macafee on it, the only way I could update for a while was by downloading the latest macafee antivirus system. If you care to wade through the maize they call a web site, there is a form you can fill in, and download the latest antivirus system for free, providing you brought a computer with it on. From there, the updates are easy. You have to uninstall the old one before installing the new one. Personally, I gave the whole mess a miss, and downloaded avg. good luck Bob |

I bought McAfee retail, I have only had it two years and they say you can update with DATS for life - well from the web site the latest DATS are for only 4.03 and higher, so it seems no more updates for me. Bugger!! Whats AVG?? cheers Nathan |
