27049 2001-12-09 00:36:00 im keen to try linux, but where to start.Heaps of info on the web but i am looking for real basic newbie stuff.
i dont know much about dual booting etc.
can anybody suggest a good info source that starts right at the beginning?

(for some reason the 'Site' button finds it, but the 'PressF1' does not.) That should show my posting of 27/10/01. Click on that. The 'Getting started' guide is good; so are the books -- try your public library.

27052 2001-12-09 06:58:00 There is heaps of stuff on the web and lots of books - my suggestion based on my own experience is to buy a book (e.g. 'Using RedHat Linux' QUE) which will come with the OS on CD - work through the book with the same distribution and version installed - a good way to avoid heaps of frustration!!
