27468 2001-12-12 20:48:00 I have a new Toshiba Satellite 3000 with DVD. The notebook has S-video out but the TV has RCA. Dick Smith sell a S-video to RCA cord, doesn't work. Sales Rep even said it doesn't work on his PC either (Duh). Any one know how I can play back DVD's thru the TV. Guest (0)
27469 2001-12-13 00:26:00 S-Video to RCA doesn't work, as the s-video signal is completely different to the RCA signal. The cord you get from Dick Smith is for machines with digital RCA inputs, as the S-video to RCA splits the digital s-video into different things (I think) luminents and colourants or something... you'll need a TV or video with s-video inputs, or perhaps there's some kind of PCMCIA card that allows RCA video output. 27470 2001-12-13 03:24:00 Cheers I'll look into the PCMCIA card thing. Along with upgrading my Notebook and OS, looks like I'm going to have to upgrade my Printer, CD writer and now the TV. Technology ahy!

Thanks for your help.
