| 27314 | 2001-12-11 09:43:00 | I have tried a lot of things trying to get my printer to work. It says the printer isn't responding when doing a communication test. I've tried the printer on other computers & it works. I installed another parallel port card and still no response from the printer. I changed the BIOS settings to all of the settings and still nothing. I flashed the BIOS just in case it was the problem and nothing. I installed the latest drivers for the printer and still not a thing. I think I've tried everything. Also tried a DCC connection and it didn't work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Otherwise maybe it's not tightly secured or perhaps a faulty cable? Try what Heather says first, and if no joy then try another cable. |

I've seen this dozens of times, and I have no idea why it does this, but it can cause really annoying problems. | Guest (0) | ||

Check that the BIOS is set for that. The manual will tell you if it *has* to have an IEE1284 cable. If it does not, it would not do any harm to splash out and buy one, Does the computer and cable work with another printer? Then follow the instructions for installing your new printer. If that does not work, post again, and tell us (1) the OS, (2) the printer manufacturer and model, (3) the computer make and model. Some printers have quirks. Sometimes manuals are wrong. Isn't it fun? |
