27296 2001-12-11 06:49:00 I was having problems with Windows Media Player 7.1 freezing up, and now I have no sound whatsoever!
I wonder if I should reinstall the 'VIA Sound System Play (DCOO)' driver, but am unsure as how to do this.
Any suggestions?

Been there, done that (see post about motherboard identification about six or seven earlier).

Search for that name, add the word driver, and see if you can find anything.

With luck, you'll find a new driver that you can run when you've got it down.

Otherwise, you'll need to unzip it, note where you expand it. Then go into control panel, choose system, device manager, open the sound option, click on the sound card, choose properties.
Then click on update driver and point Windows to where you unzipped the new driver.

I am assuming you have tried restarting, and it isn't something simple.

Robo.
