| 27589 | 2001-12-14 18:53:00 | My wife has a new PC running Win XP (previously Win 95). She is running specialised software that has fixed-size file open dialogue boxes - ie, long directory names are truncated in the dialogue box so that it is impossible to differentiate between, say, 'My Documents/Folder 1/Directory 1/Filename 1' and 'My Documents/Folder 1/Directory 1/fFilename 2'. I created a dir on c: drive with a short name. However, we notice that Windows is automatically moving the dir to c:/windows. Why does it do this &, more importantly, how do I stop it ? |
