27564 2001-12-14 05:15:00 Just downloaded Photoshop Elements from Adobe to try out and quite like it. A friend suggested looking for a crack version of it online, which I did, using Google. Being a newbie though, I don't know what to do from there - can anyone give me some plain English tips (that a journo won't need a BSc to understand!) so I can download it? Also, do I need to uninstall the tryout version of Elements? How? (Told you I was new!) Guest (0)
27565 2001-12-14 07:12:00 Hi Faye,
Sorry to put a dampener on proceedings but in 'Plain English' did your friend also tell you that if you download a demo and then 'crack it' or download an already cracked version that you are contributing to the escalating online software piracy industry? (See the large amount of postings further down the page
and pc world's home page for a news article on a recently broken warez ring)If you are a newbie as you say, then this is the wrong forum to be asking these sorts of questions. Cracking, hacking, piracy, reverse engineering etc. must always be carried out under the cover of darkness (preferably in a dark, locked wardrobe with dobermans standing guard in case the software police come a knockin')
I have used Photoshop Elements (retail version) and it is a surprisingly good product for the price. Unless you are a true professional digital artist Elements will let you do most of the stuff Photoshop6 can, at a fraction of the price. Also most Adobe products have a 'phone home' feature built into them nowadays and the unsuspecting or inexperienced could find themselves with a rather embarrassing encounter with an Adobe rep.

My advice to you is buy the retail version, it is worth it.
If you want to use the cracked version find another forum to post your questions, there are plenty of them around from which you will find your answers.

27566 2001-12-14 10:21:00 Sorry BC, didn't mean to offend anyone - as I said, I am a newbie which is why I did not think twice about posting such a request on F1. Call me naive, but I was not entirely sure that downloading off the net was the same as piracy - which I have never taken part in or condoned - as I thought that involved copying from another person's licenced copy. Have been trying to source Elements for PC in NZ but only found Mac version. Hope I won't be ostracised for making my first (of no doubt many!) faux pas. Guest (0)
