27699 2001-12-16 09:19:00 Had a new 20gb hard drive in stalled 4 wks ago all was well,just formatted and recovered back to win98se from 2000,hard drive now full at 2gb what has happened to the other 18gb of hard drive,also got a white screen warning message saying resources low never seen that before,any help info would be great. 27700 2001-12-16 10:50:00 There are 2 possible explanations.

1. Most likely you have formatted the drive using the FAT16 file system which only supports a maximum of 2gb per partition. When you run fdisk to create your partitions make sure that you enable large drive/disk support so that when you format the drive it is formatted using FAT32.

2. Your BIOS could be too old to recognise all 20gb, but I think when this is the case BIOS can see the first 8gb and no more. Try solution 1 first, if that doesn't work then see your motherboard/BIOS documentation to see what the maximum hard drive space that is supported is, if it is in fact only 2gb then you will need to update the BIOS or install drive mapping software provided by your drive manufacturer.
