| 27794 | 2001-12-17 07:35:00 | in the old days of win98 one used to be able to press alt+f4 then enter to shutdown their pc (if that was the last option used). However, pressing this same combo on winxp causes the system to suspend or hibernate depending on the power management settings. I get sick of having to scroll thru all the menus just to click shut down. Is there any way to have a shutdown button on the desktop that immediately shuts the box down with no prompts or anything? (also a log off, switch user, restart and suspend buttons for the desktop would be rather handy too, as i use these far more often than 90% of the contents on my desktop but they are some of the more complex things to get to. Cheers. |

You must disable the welcome screen and switch back to classic Windows Logon, now when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del you get a box that has: Lock Computer Log Off Shutdown Change Password Task Manager I think that is the fastest way of shutting down your box. I'm not sure why you would get sick of making 3 or 4 extra clicks to shut down your machine, but everyone to their own I guess. |
