| 28026 | 2001-12-19 06:13:00 | I have recently encountered a problem with the search program with winxp pro. if i click on the find files or folders in the start menu or even search in ie 6 i get a message that 'a file required for the search companion is missing or corrupt and that i may need to run set up.' and all that appears is a new window saying 'to search, enter your query in the panel to the left' and all that is on the left is a line saying search companion in an otherwise empty blue panel. I ran setup and there is no mention of the search companion or apparent way to repair it. Can anyone tell me how to fix this. |

You might like to do a clean install after FDISK and unconditional format. It can be very character forming, but usually works. |
