28008 2001-12-19 01:19:00 I am thinking about buying an Ihug surfboard. Does anybody have any experience with these things, are they any good?

I just want to surf the net occasionally and perhaps do a bit of on line share trading.

I travel a lot and a laptop would be too costly for me.

28009 2001-12-19 01:48:00 I am not sure how easy they are to set up in different locations. I haven't actually played with one myself.
Would be very interested to hear from someone who has.
I think they are a great option for those who can't handle PCs.

Robo.

PS Wonder if I can handle them myself, sometimes.

28010 2001-12-19 05:08:00 My Mum has one. It's great as an inexpensive alternative to a PC. It's small, compact, and seems to surf faster than our own PC, not having all the other programs running to slow it down. It's great for basic email, although I don't think it can handle attachments. Also, hers has crashed (frozen) several times when in more complex sites like The NZ Herald. The 'mouse' which is like on a laptop is a bit difficult to control. You could probably try out a demo one at Dick Smiths. Also ihug's site has more info about them. Guest (0)
28011 2001-12-22 10:01:00 It is not really suitable to travel with, it it a little large than a sky decoder so it is quite big and you would have to set it up each time you go any where. Also some older TVS may not be compatible with it. They did not work with ASB online banking or hotmail and a number of other secure sites if i recall correctly so they may not be suitable for trading shares online. Call their helpdesk and speak to one of their Techs as they will be able to give you a more accurate description of what it CANT do, what something cant do is just as important as what it can:) Guest (0)
