| 27845 | 2001-12-17 22:18:00 | I am using Windows XP Pro and want to be able set up my computer as a home server so my web pages can be accessed as if they were hosted on a web site. The traffic to my pages would be very low so my ISP wouldn't have a problem with uploads. Can some one help me please with information on exactly how to do this. Thanks in advance. |

| 27847 | 2001-12-18 00:51:00 | Go to add/remove programs in control panel, then select windows components, and you will need to put a tick in 'Internet Information Server IIS', then click next, and let it do 'it's thing'. Once it's finished, you will need to put your webpages in drive:\inetpub\wwwroot\ For people to access your webpage, they will need to know your IP address, since in most cases this changes, you will need to sign up for a free service such as dns2go.com which will automatically update the servers information on your ip address. Hope this helps, if it's a bit broad, post the step you are unsure with, and I'll try to rephrase it. PS: Make sure you have a firewall and antivirus, running IIS is practically inviting people to donate virii :-) |

I am running Zonealarm on high security rather than using the one that comes with XP. Once again, thanks mate. Regards David :-) |
