28185 2001-12-21 02:17:00 Hi, does any one know why the [THIS PROGRAM HAS PERFORMED AN ILLEGAL OPERATION AND WILL BE SHUT DOWN] dialog box pops up. Cause when ever I open IE and goto a website, any website, about 1 or 2 minutes after the illegal dialog box pops up and then follow by this dialog [IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in module SWFLASH.OCX at 017f:02dcb973.Registers: blah blah blah] you know that sort of thing. Then it closes the web page, then I have to start all over again to get in the website. This happened before, but after running Maintenance Wizard with disk clean up, scan disk, disk degragmenter, AV everyhting was fixed but now it doesn't work at all, I tried disk defragmenter 2 times but nothing seen to be fixed, the dialog keeps poping up and closing my web pages and my MS word document, ACD See pics files and system files all have the the file type name at the end of the file name eg: dog(before)->dog.jpg(after), work(before)->work.doc(after).

Please can any one help me, I will be really grateful.
Thanks alot.

the Illgegal ...blah shutdown notice, can mean a lack of recouces to run the program that you want. try restart, and close down any programs you may have running, and try again.
good luck,

28187 2001-12-21 03:27:00 Sorry, but what do you mean lack of resources? eg: Ram, CPU? I'm running a computer with 500mhz, 192mb ram and window 98SE.
I have tried closing all the program but it just reduce the time that the dialog pops up and closes my webpage.

Thanks for helping, tho.

28188 2001-12-21 05:12:00 ...have you tried using the 'Repair Internet Explorer' utility (?)

Go: Start > Run > and type 'rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance' (sans quotes) in the command window > press Enter or click Okay.

Select 'Repair' from the options then 'Okay' and follow your on-screen directions which will include a System restart.

Cheers!!!
