28089 2001-12-19 22:55:00 I am having problems with internal Stack Overflows in Win98 SE. How can I stop this? It gets really annoying when games pack up in the middle of a multiplayer session. Guest (0)
28090 2001-12-19 23:23:00 Need some more info on your computer, ie ram, video card, and processor speed, also it could be a problem with the game itself Guest (0)
28091 2001-12-20 01:26:00 Hi Daryl this can be caused by the Bymer Worm Virus which is alive and well in NZ. I've caught it 4 times in the last 12 months but my antivirus stopped it at the gate. What antivirus do you use, I use InoculateIT updated weekly. Have a look at Q274841 on the MS Knowledge base for more details. HTH PC Guest (0)
28092 2001-12-20 03:13:00 I'm running a 550Mhz AMD K6, with 120Mb of RAM, not sure on the Vid card, it's whatever they put in Aptiva 22A's.

As for the games, they are mainly older Star Wars games (Win95 era).

28093 2001-12-20 03:24:00 I'm using McAffee V-Shield. I checked thier virus database and couldn't find anything on the Bymer Worm. This probably isn't a good thing, is it? :P Guest (0)
28094 2001-12-21 00:07:00 If your problem is not due to a virus, but occurs with older programs using real-mode drivers, there are two things you can do.
You can increase the number of stacks in the config.sys file. Use Notepad to open config.sys in c:\windows, and add a line stacks=64, 512 or change the existing values to above.

There is also a Make Compatible program in Win98, go to start-run and type in mkcompat, from File choose the name of the program causing the problem then check the box that says give the application more stack space.
