| 28071 | 2001-12-19 21:36:00 | Hi I have a friend who has loaded a German version Win2k as a dual boot with the original OS in the machine (Win98-not SE). She says it was initially working okay but now most software packages are crashing 'fatal errors' etc. Is having the second non-english OS likely to be causing the problems? Am going to look at machine this evening. |

| 28072 | 2001-12-19 22:28:00 | hi Rangi, if both OS are installed on the same partition then their 'Program Files' folders will overwrite each others and cause chaos. If they are on separate partitions then they should coexist happily. |

| 28073 | 2001-12-19 22:42:00 | Thanks for that. The drive was originally partitioned and I would have thought that loading the Win2k should have warned her not install on same partition. Wait - Just spoke to her and YES she did load new OS onto C drive too! Would it take some time for software to start crashing? | Guest (0) | ||
