28057 2001-12-19 12:39:00 just a small question a mate asked that i actually couldn't answer ;-)

whats the going charge out rate for basic computer work these days? what would it cost for a computer to have windows formatted/reinstalled(on average)?

28058 2001-12-19 13:02:00 Hi tweak'e, I think it would depend a lot on who you got to do it. Going to a shop probably around $40+ per hour. But someone who just runs an ad in the 'Buy Sell and Exchange' offering to repair your computer at your own home, might cost closer to $15 - $20 because they wouldn't have the overheads.
Also it would differ depending on what needs to be done. You say about how much would it cost to have windows reinstalled, will this include backing up of data and settings, and reinstallation of other software as well.

28064 2001-12-19 20:47:00 Hmmm. Makes me wonder why people bother doing MCSE courses.

At $15 per hour, I think I'll hire them to fix my PC.

But are they any good?

Robo.
