| 28294 | 2001-12-22 01:37:00 | I was using partition magic 7, to merge two NTFS partitions. To cut a long story short, it didn't work, and just marked the second partition as 'unallocated space'. It there anyway to mark it as NTFS again? Or recover the files? |

| 28295 | 2001-12-22 02:40:00 | Playing around with partition tables is heavy Voodoo. Does not Partition Magic give an option of saving the original partition table so it can be restored? If not, you really ought to sacrifice some chickens to get the gods appeased before you start. Have a look at my replies to Schroeder below ('Partition Magic 7' and 'Whoops ... help'). NB: NTFS has the same ID byte as OS/2. Linux fdisk, and GNU parted know about OS/2, so you ought to be able to reallocate the partition. Check out the 'gpart' programme referred to in the Partition HOWTO. You might need to get hold of a linux rescue disk with that added. Also check out the miniHOWTO Partition-rescue in that .../LDP/mini/ directory. |
