28276 2001-12-22 01:02:00 I am having trouble trying to find a way to format a CD so files can be dragged and dropped from Explorer onto the CD and get burnt.

The reason I need this is a piece of Software I'm running doesn't support writing to CD-RW.

I'm running WinXP Pro.
(Immediate burning needed, like a 3 1/2 Floppy)

thanks for any help,
Isaac

28277 2001-12-22 22:53:00 The software that came with your CD-RW should have a utility to format your CDs. Once they are formatted you can just use Explorer to drag and drop your files just like a floppy.

What software came with your writer?

Nero came with the writer,
yet I can't seem to find the command to do this.

Thanks.

28279 2001-12-24 02:37:00 No, I can't find anything in Nero to format a CD-RW either. My CD-RW also came with InCD which does the formatting job.

Have another look at the installation CDs that came with your burner and see if you can find InCD there. When you insert the CD it should come up with a menu (provided you have auto-run configured) with what you can install. If InCD is there install it and use that. If it isn't then there should be something else similar.

28280 2001-12-24 04:29:00 Incd was not included with the Nero Prog that I downloaded but is available - free if your Nero is registered - from their site. It installs in it's own folder - Prog Files - Ahead. Never had to format my cdrw - just dragged files across to the drive. An icon appears in your task bar when installed, with a red arrow pointing down with no disc in, changing to green up when OK. Have to open this to eject disc. Regards Guest (0)
