28504 2001-12-25 00:23:00 This is a known problem with Win98SE if you have mapped network drives. Make sure you have the latest patchs from:

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Small note: I have seen this behaviour when their haven't been mapped network drive. It has been when Win98SE has been upgraded from Win98 and hasn't detected the ACPI option from your BIOS correctly. To fix this I would suggest it means editing the registry or just turning off ACPI in the BIOS. The latter is easy enough if you know what your doing. The former I would not suggest unless you know what you are doing so will not post the material.

28505 2001-12-25 01:23:00 it's often an app that won't close properly. Try shutting things down manually.

Robo.

PS get off the bloody PC and have some xmas spirit. Merry Christmas.

28506 2001-12-26 02:05:00 Just fixed the same problem on my mums computer and it turned out to be a program not shutting down. I used the ctrl/alt/del function and by eliminating each prog one by one I found the culprit and had her shutting down in no time. Guest (0)
28507 2001-12-26 22:06:00 you may also want to check and see if the 'fast shutdown' option is enabled. If so it can cause the problem you mention. Guest (0)
