1286184 2012-07-05 06:18:00 Hi

Does anyone know of a free, simple bur good, piece of software that will PW protect a 4 gig USB drive?

If there's an encryption option as well that would be good.

This one does it (www.downloadcrew.co.uk) but will only go up to 2 gig

1286188 2012-07-05 08:40:00 What happens about files and portable apps that are already on the drive? tuiruru (12277)
1286189 2012-07-05 08:44:00 I think they will stay. Just to be sure, I'd transfer them over to a pc before putting the password on. Someone (who has used truecrypt) may be able to say for sure. Nick G (16709)
1286190 2012-07-05 15:27:00 Depends on how you want to do it. I've not used recent Truecryt versions.

Just copy the data off, make a 'hidden' partition that takes up say 3.8GB, have a smaller 64MB partition just for Truecrypt (In case you wanna use the device on another PC) and then you're all good to go :)

1286191 2012-07-05 19:35:00 Im pretty sure truecrypt requires admin rights so if you go to a library or something like that you wont be able to acsess your files. stratex5 (16685)

I'm pretty sure it does, whereas rohos mini doesn't (I think)
