1285639 2012-07-03 10:31:00 I want to wipe clean hard drive and reinstall win7 as clean as to pass on machine with no residues.
Currently C: and E: partitions and have a win7 oem disc 32 bit.
Have backed up all data and drivers to external hard drive.

Thanks

1285640 2012-07-03 10:41:00 Boot from the dvd then delete / format all the partitions / then recreate them. If you want more than 1 partition. Then reinstall Win7 on C Speedy Gonzales (78)
1285641 2012-07-03 11:03:00 Thanks will that boot from dvd auto or do I have to alter bios ?? cowboy stu (7021)
1285642 2012-07-03 11:07:00 To be safe I would zero the disk before re-installing with linhost.info . johnd (85)
1285643 2012-07-03 11:16:00 You have to go into the bios and change the bootdisk to the DVD save settings. Reboot, then press a key, when it says press a key. Then follow whats on the screen. Once windows has been installed, remove the DVD, change the bootdisk to the hdd, Save settings / reboot. Or you could use dban (its in ISO format, so you'll have to burn the ISO to cd first), to format the hdd (it may take a while, depending on how big the hdd is), then install Windows Speedy Gonzales (78)

Depends on how the BIOS is set up already. It may be already set to check CD\DVD first before HDD.

Any machine made in the last several years should have a boot selection menu also, usually F8 or F11 or such, then you can select CD\DVD boot manually, that's another way you can do it.
