I had wondered why they stopped work on that corner.

When did a post hole become an artifact? Must have missed that memo.

1263472 2012-03-07 01:21:00 Know the road real well used to go over heaps when I was at school in Mot. Crashed there on my bike once but I was pissed so not all the roads fault.
**** me dead since when is a post hole in the ground classified as an artifact I would call it a hole and send the diggers back.

1263477 2012-03-07 03:28:00 I've heard tales of human remains being pushed aside while work is done, then quietly placed back where they were beforehand. All done quietly so as not to start this sort of BS, and to allow the work to get done.

And frankly, unless it's a crime scene from within an 80 year period, there's little point in showing any older bones any further respect.

Life, and the services this work is being done for (power, phone, internet, sewerage, roads, tunnels, rail) are more important than the bones of the long since deceased, that have been long since forgotten.

Wonder if the warrata that's marking out a corner of my compost pile will be of any archeological interest in 100 years time?
I hope not.

1263479 2012-03-07 04:11:00 Council's position is that we're not going to put a road through a major Maori archaeological site so the alternative is either go around it or manage the issue we've got at that location," said TDC transportation manager Gary Clark.
Dont know the actual road, but the vision of a straight piece of road with a sudden turn, half loop around the area then carry on straight again - that will keep you awake. lol
