1262901 2012-03-04 04:42:00 We are planning a trip to the East coast USA in the middle of the year and plan to rent a car for 4 or 5 days, to get out of the city. I wondered if anyone had any tips or experience of car rentals that might be of use? Erger (10062)
1262902 2012-03-04 05:43:00 Take out the liability insurance so if you hit some one your covered. Unfortunately it will cost about the same as the car rental but it would be worth it paulw (1826)

1262906 2012-03-04 18:46:00 It is not particularly helpful to practice driving on the right before you leave. R2x1 (4628)
1262907 2012-03-04 18:52:00 Let me rephrase that. Have you ever driven in a country that drives in the right hand side of the road?
The reason I asked is because I had some very interesting experiences my first time on the road in the USA.

Driving on the wrong side of the road can be interesting........once you are on the wrong side of the road, then all appears to go well until you reach a intersection and you are turning and as you turn, you are mentally turning for kiwi side of the road. Turning at intersections a little phrase I repeat to myself is "right - tight, left - loose.

You will adapt in about 2 days once you realize that every one else does as well..
Just watch out for the 4 way stop signs where you have to give way to the rite not the left was you would think. Also when i was there it was first into the intersection was also the first out..
